About

Strange + geography: the parts of the planet nobody saw coming.

Our planet is full of things that shouldn't be possible: a lake that refuses to die, a river hot enough to cook you with no volcano for hundreds of miles, seals stranded 1,200 miles from the sea. Strangeography takes one of these anomalies at a time and follows the clues down to the hidden forces behind it.

How every story is checked

  • Every claim needs two reputable sources: papers, science agencies, universities, museums or original reporting.
  • Numbers, quotes and "the only/the biggest" claims are traced to a primary source, and then we look for counterexamples.
  • Each script goes through a claim-by-claim ledger and a skeptic's re-read before it's published. Sources are listed with every video and post.
  • When we get something wrong, we fix it and log the correction.
